Lisa Thatcher:
Lisa Thatcher is a novelist, short story writer, essayist and reviewer currently living in Sydney, Australia.
Lisa has released a book of short stories, Stack and is currently completing her first literary novel, as well as a second compilation of short stories. She writes for Dusted Magazine, and for Necessary Fiction Magazine. She is a member of the editorial board of Coldnoon Travel Poetics Journal, and co-editor of the arts journal Henry. Lisa has a strong interest in film and film philosophy and is currently working on her first feature film.
Update:
The novel is going very well. I hope to have it complete in a few months, but we shall see.
The second book of short stories is slow. Maybe I won’t do that this year.
Henry is finally up and running and I have rather high hopes for the magazine at this stage.
I have fallen in love with film making. I wrote the first script of a short that we are using as a test case for our broader vision, and found it very enjoyable. We haven’t started filming the short yet, but will be ready for that around August.
Czech New Wave book has changed direction several times.
Blog:
The purpose of this blog is to have something ‘out there’ so that should anyone want to read something I have written it exists, free of charge, in a format that is immediately accessible. It has the dual purpose of forcing me (in that I feel obligated to post regularly) to voice my interactions with art that crosses my path. The most important thing in the world is that we are able to communicate our position as lucidly as possible so that we fully understand the intellectual (and practical) ramifications of what we think. This is essential for our relationship with ourselves as well as our relationship with the ‘out there.’ No where is our culture more accurately portrayed than through what we call art, and because it exists I feel obliged to have an opinion and examine the opinion that I have in the hope that it changes regularly.
If any artist sees themselves represented here in a way that does not make them feel supported, please contact me to have posts removed.
I have closed comments with a desire to encourage people to write their own blogs / books / articles, rather than engage in social media, which I believe is a waste of time.
You will not find me on Facebook, Twitter or any other similar platform.
Please feel very comfortable to point out any errors, email me, and I will repair them. I am genuinely grateful for those watchful eyes – where would writers be without editors?

Reviews:
This blog currently (as of end of January 2013) receives over 150,000 raw hits per month with over 50% of those visitors staying to move around on the blog. It has just crossed the ‘million hit’ milestone, the bulk of which has been achieved in the last eight months. The blog continues to grow, and it is my intention to expand over time.
If you have music or a book you would like me to consider reviewing, please feel free to contact me at sendlisamessage(at)gmail(dot)com. Please remember, review choices are up to me, and I can’t review everything. When it comes to music I am better at reviewing the avant-garde and sound art, and when it comes to writing I prefer to review literature. I no longer do obligatory reviews for friends. Thank you for trusting me with your precious work.
Talk to me any time about Henry Magazine. Use the same email as above.
Submissions for Henry Magazine should be sent to sendlisamessage(at)gmail(dot)com.

HI there Pankaj – sorry it took me a while to answer you – I just saw your comment now.
I think the best advice I can give you is the clichéd advice.
1. All good writers are great readers and there is never an exception to this rule.
2. All good writers have a lineage – that is they build on those who have gone before them. Embrace your influence.
3. Write as often as you can. Preferably every day. You will get better with practise.
4. Get yourself a writing partner, writing friends, or critique group. Learn how to see what is good in other peoples work and what is bad.
Have fun.
Thanks for your comment.

I have to tell you. We (my wife and I, she a visual artist – http://www.lifeinrelationtoart.wordpress.com and myself a writer – http://www.manoftheword.com) recently stumbled upon your blog and were taken immediately by two of our favoritest artists (Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell) and since then Diebenkorn! now Frankenthaler! It is a mystery that tastes so coincide, but we say thank you for bringing all our favorites into the spotlight! Kudos and encouragements!

I don’t usually publish posts like that one, but I will happily tell you 7 things about myself in the spirit of us all getting to know each other a little better: was born (and am still) very blonde but i colour my hair; I used to be a jazz / lounge singer; I was raised in a cult; I LOVE good red wine and blue cheese; I love The Simpson’s; I am extremely withdrawn and hide this socially out of a deep fear of others social discomfort; I have had many years of therapy!
Oh
And everyone MUST visit your blog! http://manoftheword.com/

Hi Lisa, I’m following your blog (and commented a post of yours about a forgotten 70ies German band and Frank Zappa’s influence – remember?), and then I realized I didn’t invite you on this blog of mine: Cardboard Towns http://cardboardtowns.wordpress.com (it’s about art and paintings of mine). Just in case, comments are welcome. Ciao – Marco
